GreenHomeNYC is host to an exciting revolutionary interpretation of the New York street fair that brings new ideas to the street to create a better, brighter future.

With over 3,000 participants, the event focuses on bringing a deeper understanding of what a true green New York City can be, while teaching people how to TAKE ACTION in the greening of our world. The day features a wide array of vendors demonstrating DIY tools, services, and products to the public. In addition, there are green building tours; energy audits, tree planting and maintenance classes; tours of the Gowanus and local green industrial businesses, and many other exciting actions happening throughout the day. The New New York Street Festival was held on Saturday, October 2, 2010, and occupied 3rd Street between Bond and Hoyt Streets in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn.

desigNYC connected GreenHomeNYC with Hot Studio to create a fresh, lively brand, logo, and website for the event. Discussions around the meaning of the concept led to a very thoughtful exploration of what this project really was about, and proved to be an invaluable experience in helping the project take form.

GreenHomeNYC’s goal is to reach a wider audience with our message – New Yorkers know a lot about what is good and green, but there is a lot of misunderstanding on how to really take personal action and responsibility. The New New York will hopefully engage and de-mystify how to green our homes, our buildings and our streets.
